In 2016, Nikki graduated Cum Laude from Stephen F Austin with a bachelor of art and a minor in geology. The sciences such as Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics peaked her interest, which is why she minored in Geology because of it’s connections to all those fields.
In her words “The pretty, the big, the microscopic, the fascinating, the real are all incredible”, which is why she uses knowledge to directly inspire her metalworking. Just like a scientist, Nikki uses experiments, timing, and problem solving to challenge herself and her materials in the hopes of one day becoming a Master Metalsmith.
She enjoys renderings things that are typically hard to see, such as a large astronomy notions, or bacteria only seen under an electron microscope. By turning these concepts into jewelry, she is building a bridge between science and art and creating tangible representations of a big infinite world that has yet to fully be explored.
